About the George Morris Philips Society
George Morris Philips, Principal of the West Chester State Normal School from 1881-1920, is remembered as an esteemed educator who demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the success and legacy of this institution. He was appointed professor of mathematics in 1873. In 1878, he joined the faculty at Lewisburg University, returning to West Chester as Principal. George Morris Philips held the office until his death in 1920.
More than 400 alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and benefactors have
expressed their commitment by including the West Chester University
