About the George Morris Philips Society

George Morris Philips, Principal of the West Chester State Normal School from 1881-1920, is remembered as an esteemed educator who demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the success and legacy of this institution. He was appointed professor of mathematics in 1873. In 1878, he joined the faculty at Lewisburg University, returning to West Chester as Principal. George Morris Philips held the office until his death in 1920.

More than 400 alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and benefactors have expressed their commitment by including the West Chester University Foundation in their estate plans. To join the George Morris Philips Society, simply inform us that you have remembered us in your will, retirement plan, or other vehicle, or complete the Statement of Intent.

As a member, you will receive invitations to exclusive Society and annual events. Additionally, you will be listed on the recognition plaques in both the WCU Alumni & Foundation Center and in the Philips Memorial Building on campus. See a full list of members here.
